Department of Education and Science
The Department of Education and Science (DES) is responsible for the administration of public education, primary, post primary and special education in Ireland. The ICT Policy Unit of the Department of Education and Science promotes ICT access and integration in primary and post-primary schools.

Education Centres
A network of learning communities for teachers, there are 21 full-time and 9 part-time centres located throughout Ireland. The Education Centres support the in-service needs of local teachers and play a key role in implementing the NCTE's programme of continuing professional development for teachers. The NCTE database gives information on each centre together with contact details for key staff and a link to the relevant centre website.

Subject Associations
Subject associations represent professionals involved in the teaching of a specific discipline, teachers' associations or other areas of common interest. They provide a forum for discussing issues of common concern, identify areas of common practice and share information on topics of mutual interest. The NCTE site provides a gateway to all of the associations.

National Council for Curriculum and Assessment
The NCCA was formed in 1987 to advise the Minister for Education and Science on matters related to the curriculum and assessment procedures for primary and second level education. The Council has recently completed work on a revised primary school curriculum.

Internet Advisory Board (IAB)
The Internet Advisory Board (IAB) assists and supports the Irish Internet Service Provider (ISPAI) industry to deliver an effective self-regulatory environment for internet content. While monitoring developments relating to the illegal and harmful use of the internet, the Board commissions research on internet downside issues and promote awareness of internet safety, particularly with regard to children.

Office for Internet Safety
The Office for Internet Safety is an Executive Office of the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reform. The Office was established by the Government to take a lead responsibility for internet safety in Ireland, particularly as it relates to children. The Office for Internet Safety aims to build linkages and cohesion between all Departments and agencies to ensure that the State provides the best possible protection for the community and promotes internet safety, particularly in relation to combating child pornography.

National Centre for Guidance in Education
The NCGE is an agency of the Department of Education and Science. Its main roles are to support and develop guidance practice in all areas of education and to inform the policy of the Department in the field of guidance.

Léargas
Léargas - The Exchange Bureau, seeks to enable and support people through transnational partnerships in the context of the European Union and bilateral programmes.

European Schoolnet
This is an international partnership of 23 countries collaborating on ICT information and resources for teachers, students and policy makers. The EUN is funded by the European Commission and subscriptions from the various national ministries for education and its website provides a forum for discussion, collaboration and interaction on everything to do with ICT and education.

NINE Northern Ireland
NINE is concerned with the provision of connectivity solutions and ICT equipment to schools in Northern Ireland.

British Educational Communications and Technology Agency
BECTa is essentially Britain's equivalent of the NCTE. Concerned with everything to do with ICT and education, it plays a crucial role in helping to maximise the benefits to all teachers and learners of using ICT.

The National Grid for Learning
The NGfL is the UK's national focal point for learning on the Internet. The portal brings together a vast and growing collection of sites that support education and lifelong learning. There is something for everyone here.
 
Learning and Teaching Scotland
LT Scotland works in partnership with others to develop the curriculum from 3 to 18, to enhance learning and teaching and to promote creative and effective use of information and communications technology in education and in learning throughout life.
