Security
The Schools Broadband Network operates the FortiGuard Antivirus and Antispyware services from Fortinet. These services prevent both new and yet unknown threats and vulnerabilities from gaining access to computers in schools via the internet by preventing and responding to today’s fast-spreading attacks.
However, while FortiGuard will stop viruses and spyware entering a computer in the school via the internet, there are other ways, such as via CDs, USB keys, floppy disks, laptops, etc., that viruses and spyware can enter a computer in the school. Schools are recommended to have up-to-date anti-virus software on each computer in the school. Every day the FortiGuard services will report to the Service Desk what computers in what schools that it detected a virus within the previous 24 hours. The Service Desk will contact these schools requesting the school to find the offending machine and remove the virus by using up-to-date anti-virus software.
