When schools think of ICT they immediately think of desktop computers - how many do they have, where are they located and how many additional computers can they purchase. There is no doubt that computers, whether desktop or portable, are key pieces of equipment in any school, but it is important to remember that they are just one part of the overall picture.
Central to any ICT integration policy are the questions HOW and WHERE are computers going to be used. Many believe that locating computers in designated computer rooms is the only viable model. However, as outlined below, there are a number of other deployment options that can be implemented and every school needs to consider what deployment model or combination matches their school and budget needs.
