Educational Objectives
Once a school has identified the appropriate stages of development from the ICT planning matrix, the educational objectives and priorities of the school ICT plan should be considered. Ideally, the plan should emphasise the effective use of ICT in teaching and learning situations, rather than focusing exclusively on the acquisition of equipment or ICT skills. Taking the curriculum as the starting point, the educational objectives of the ICT plan should cover:
- How technology will help staff to teach more effectively
- How technology will assist students to learn more effectively
- How technology can provide access to learning for, and facilitate inclusion of, students with diverse learning needs
- How ICT can facilitate communication with the wider education community to enrich the teaching and learning experience
- How teachers can be actively engaged to use ICT in their teaching
