ICT Steering Committee

The selection of an ICT steering committee is very important, as the development of an effective plan should not be the sole remit of one person. The steering committee should involve people from various strands and subject areas to ensure that the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the entire school. For example, a committee might include the following representatives:

  • Teachers of various class levels, subject areas or other specialist areas
  • Members of the Board of Management
  • Members of the local community and local business people, where appropriate

The role of the committee must be clearly defined. When outlining the role of the steering committee, consider the following questions:

  • How does the committee monitor progress on an ongoing basis, evaluate the
  • ICT plan and revise as required?
  • How frequently should the ICT committee meet?
  • What is the status of the committee within the school?
