Teachers – NCTE provides courses and other continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to support the integration of ICT in the curriculum and help you to develop e-learning in your school. There are no course fees.

Online Summer Course 2013 - Enrol now!
Enrolment is now closed for the EPV days approved, summer online course, Using the Interactive Whiteboard to Support Literacy.
This 20 hour online course is aimed at teachers interested in equipping themselves with the skills required to effectively use their interactive whiteboard to support literacy development in particular. During the course, teachers learn about the main features of IWB software, learn to create literacy resources using their board and create and share lesson outlines with other teachers in the course.
NB: a regular computer and good quality broadband are required to complete this course (the course is not fully accessible via an iPad).
Face to Face Summer Courses 2013
Almost 200 instances of four face to face courses, approved for EPV Days, will be made available by PDST Technology in Education through the education centre network this summer.

TeacherCPD.ie
TeacherCPD.ie is the new name for the online professional development service provided by PDST which now includes the NCTE learning online service. Podcasting for Learning will be one of the first courses to be made available on TeacherCPD.ie. Subject to course approval for EPV days, the online course Using the Interactive Whiteboard to Support Literacy will be made available this summer via TeacherCPD.ie.
Using ICT in Teaching and Learning (ICT courses for teachers) PDF booklet
This booklet outlines the range of courses available through PDST Technology in Education on using ICT in teaching and learning. All of the courses are made available through the education centre network and online. The ICT courses focus on the integation of ICT in the classroom, prioritising the use of ICT in literacy, numeracy, special educational needs and school improvement. You can download it here.
New course: NCTE Recording, editing and using sound for learning
This short course provides an introduction to using sound recording software to support teaching and learning, with a particular focus on literacy development. Using free software participants explore the uses of audio recording in the primary and post primary classroom, Participants will also learn how to record and edit sound as well as exploring other tools which facilitate the use of audio in the classroom. New course: An Introduction to Scratch in the Classroom (NCTE/Lero)
Scratch is a free application, developed by the MIT Media Lab, which allows users to create and share their own interactive stories, animations and games. It is easier to use than traditional programming languages as it consists of graphical blocks which snap together.
This course enables teachers to use Scratch to support teaching and learning, both at primary and post primary level. Read more >

Whole School Training
The NCTE funds education centres to provide access to CPD opportunities which can be tailored to your schools’ staff needs and made available in your own school (minimum 10 teachers). This can consist of anything from a standard NCTE course to a less formal support group. Find out more>
Course Evaluation
All course participants must complete an NCTE online evaluation. The feedback from this evaluation helps us monitor and improve our courses, as well as to plan future CPD.
