Pre-requisites

Introductory Course Phase 1 or equivalent experience

Ideally, participants will also have completed Introductory Course Phase 2 or have equivalent experience.

Target Audience

  • Teachers new to special education
  • Resource teachers for special needs
  • Special class teachers who are teaching students with a fairly broad range of disabilities
  • Mainstream teachers with special needs students in their class

Contents

The course addresses the full range of special needs. While the use of ICT with specific types of disability or other special need is not covered in any depth, opportunities exist within the course for teachers to focus their interest and learning on a particular subject, particularly through the research element of the course.

Aims to

  • Provide exposure to a range of potential ICT uses with special needs students
  • Provide practical sessions for development of some ICT skills, particularly in software use and the Internet
  • Provides opportunities to build confidence in using ICT with special needs students
