Scoilnet for Teachers
Managed and run by NCTE, Scoilnet is the Department of Education and Skills' official portal for Irish education. Currently, it contains a database of over 11,000 digital resources including thempepages, reviewed websites, quizzes, lesson plans, crosswords and other multimedia. It acts as a support to teachers, students, parents and school managers at both primary and post primary levels. Resources, which are constantly being reviewed, developed and updated by a team of over 20 curriculum experts, are accessed primarily via the “Resource Finder”.
In 2009, Encyclopaedia Britannica, the renowned encyclopaedia and reference source, was licensed for educational use within the Scoilnet website and the Schools Broadband Network. The encyclopaedias are available to all schools free of charge via Scoilnet.ie. Teacher access to both encyclopaedias from locations outside of school has been available since April 2010.
