Scratch Courses for Teachers

planning templates Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art -- and share your creations on the web. As young people create and share Scratch projects, they learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.

The Computer Education Society of Ireland (CESI) and Lero - the Irish Software Engineering Research Centre are engaging in an initiative to develop and roll out teacher training in the use of Scratch (a visual programming language) in the classroom, funded by the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE). The course is scheduled to run on two Saturdays – October 1st and October 15th in a number of education centres.

Each course will be lead by a teacher practitioner, who will indicate approaches used in class.
