An Irish teacher has won a global Microsoft educator award at the Microsoft Partners in Learning Global Forum 2011.

The International Student Carbon Footprint Challenge (ISCFC) is an international collaboration project where secondary school pupils all over the globe calculate their carbon footprints, compare them to their colleagues worldwide, and engage in an online dialog to discuss what they learned and to work together to envision solutions to our global environmental challenges.
Teacher training in the Future Classroom Lab
European Schoolnet is putting in place a new Future Classroom Lab that will showcase iTEC teaching and learning scenarios. Moreover, a new project called CPDlab (Continuing Professional Development Lab) starting in October will help to find new ways to provide ongoing teacher training.
Identifying key competences for the classroom of the future
Teachers’ roles are currently changing as a result of the integration of new technologies in schools. The iTEC project has recently finalized a report on teachers' technical and pedagogical skills and competences in the context of the classroom of the future. The report explores questions such as: What are the roles of the teachers in the 21st century? What are the competences teachers need to fulfill these roles? What sort of resources and training programmes should our educational systems provide to help them?
