PPLI - Videos
The Post-Primary Languages Initiative (PPLI) have just produced a new video series ‘More Languages More Options’, seven short films on the value of foreign language skills.
TED-Ed
TED-Ed's mission is to capture and amplify the voices of great educators around the world. They will do this by pairing extraordinary educators with talented animators to produce a new library of curiosity-igniting videos. A new site, already in beta, features these new TED-Ed Originals as well as some powerful new learning tools.
Storybud
For people who love stories and storytelling! On Storybud you will get a text version of a story, an audio version of that story and a slide show version of the story.
This website, still very much in its infancy, could be of use for the visually impaired. The developer would also welcome feedback.
QuizSlides
QuizSlides.com is an innovative web-based platform for multiple-choice testing, launched in April 2012. It was developed in collaboration with London South Bank University in the United Kingdom, where it was used to deliver over 5,000 multiple-choice tests during private beta testing. At present it is free to use.
Primary Minecraft
Minecraft is focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world.
A new website, PrimaryMinecraft.com, gives primary teachers an introduction to the game. There are a number of examples of Minecraft and how it is used in primary schools around the world. There’s also a section with ideas how to use Minecraft in different curriculum areas. And finally, there is an overview on how to get started, should you want to start using Minecraft in school yourself.
under-30.org
Under Thirty is a unique not-for-profit organisation that showcases and nurtures young Irish fiction at home and abroad. Through its bi-annual journal, it publishes high quality peer-reviewed short fiction with an award in the form of a scholarship/writing retreat for one outstanding contribution. The publication of each issue coincides with a guest lecture relevant to the project, its contributors, and readers.
The project will launch in July 2012 at Dublin City University, with the first issue to be published in December.
Demand for Camara technology exceeds 1,000 schools
Irish charity Camara Education's waiting list for refurbished IT equipment has exceeded 1,000 schools in Africa for the first time.

Minister of State for Research & Innovation, Sean Sherlock, officially launched the it@cork, European tech cluster adopt-a-school programme in Cork recently. The programme is aimed at growing partnerships between IT companies and schools leading to an increase in IT skills of the future workforce.

ECLAP - the e-library for performing arts
ECLAP - the e-library for performing arts - is a social network and best practice platform for digitized performing arts heritage and it is part of the Europeana family (www.europeana.eu).
The project is bringing together performing arts collections (videos, photographs, texts, essays, etc.) cultural institutions across Europe. Many of these have never been made accessible online until now.
