NCTE

The National Centre for Technology in Education is the government agency established to provide advice, support and information on the use of ICT in education

Support Groups

NCTE support groups aim to provide an infrastructure for teachers, living in the same locality, to meet and discuss ICT topics that they wish to explore in greater detail. Support groups may follow a variety of models - they may meet on a regular basis (eg the first Tuesday of every month during the academic year) or they may meet only once to discuss a particular ICT topic of relevance. In the past, support groups have been organised to:

  • Support teachers in special needs education and ICT
  • Evaluate software
  • Facilitate ICT planning
  • Explore digital media
  • Refresh skills in particular software applications, eg PowerPoint
  • Assist subject associations in promoting subject-specific use of ICT
  • Support ICT co-ordinating teachers
  • Up-skill teachers to meet with entry requirements for a specific course

If you wish to organise or join a support group, please contact your local Education Centre.
