What is TeachNet?

  • TeachNet is an initiative of St. PatricK’s College Drumcondra.

  • TeachNet is sponsored by The Citigroup Foundation, the National Centre for Technology in Education (NCTE), Microsoft Ireland and The Ireland Funds.

  • TeachNet provides grants of €750 directly to 50 primary and second level teachers per year.

  • TeachNet provides professional development workshops and support for teachers who are prepared to share their expertise with other teachers.

  • We are now developing a TeachNet Online Learning Centre (TOLC) where teachers will be able to access at least six online modules to assist them in publishing their online projects.  Teachers will also receive feedback and online support from our team of mentors.

  • TeachNet is a developing a community of teachers who are interested in learning more about publishing curriculum resources online.

  • TeachNet is publishing much needed educational content on the Internet for primary and second level schools connecting to broadband.

  • TeachNet has published over 200 online curriculum units and these are available free of charge through the www.teachnet.ie website.

  • Selected teachers can attend a series of face to face and online workshops and receive ongoing online support to assist in the development of their website.

  • Each selected teacher develops an online curriculum website relevant to Irish teachers who are selected to publish curriculum content online.

  • Selected teachers will be expected to have basic ICT skills and be familiar with using the Internet for their subject area.

Who should apply?

  • Teachers with good ideas on integrating ICT effectively and creatively in teaching and learning

  • Teachers who are interested in developing their skill set to publish online

  • Teachers who are willing to share their classroom best practice with others and participate actively in a community of like minded learners.
