ICT & Maths (NCTE/Project Maths)
Overview
The NCTE is running a series of workshops to support the integration of ICT into the teaching of mathematics. The workshops were developed by the Project Maths Development Team in cooperation with NCTE and are available through the education centre network. These introductory modules focus on the use of software to teach geometry, trigonometry and statistics. They will also include a short introduction to using a laptop with a data projector.

Course Content
This course consists of five modules in total:
•Workshop 1:
GeoGebra for Synthetic Geometry-
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of theorems, constructions and transformation geometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
•Workshop 2:
GeoGebra for Co-ordinate Geometry-
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of co-ordinate geometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
•Workshop 3:
GeoGebra for Trigonometry plus participants sharing their resources-
This covers the use of GeoGebra in the teaching of trigonometry for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 2.
•Workshops 4 & 5:
Excel for teaching Statistics-
This covers the use of Excel in the teaching of statistics. It will deal with the production of relevant graphs and formulae for both Junior Cert. and Leaving Cert. from Strand 1.
