ICT Advisory Support Service
Serving schools in Cavan and Meath

The following ICT advisory services are available to your school. Meetings with Principals, ICT Coordinators, and whole school staffs can be facilitated. Your local ICT Advisor can visit your school on request and discuss, advise, and demonstrate regarding the following ICT issues.
  • ICT planning to support teaching and learning in the classroom.

  • ICT grants expenditure. e.g. networking in preparation for broadband, purchasing computers, laptops, data projectors, digital cameras, CD servers, etc.

  • Advice on classroom integration of ICTs.
    Using ICTs in Project work. e.g. Using a digital camera/scanner/digital camcorder to enhance project work.
    Other project ideas. e.g. Digital school calendar, school newsletter, diary, transition year ICT project, etc.
    Students using PowerPoint to present curricular based projects. e.g. “Our Parish”, “The Normans”, “Mo Chlann” etc.

  • Softwareadvice and demonstration of suitable age and curriculum appropriate software. A number of software packages are available in Navan Education Centre for inspection or loan to schools or teachers.

  • Developing school Internet Usage.
    Using Broadband Internet access in the curriculum.
    Creating a simple school website containing pupils work and school information.

  • Internet Safetyadvice on developing an “Acceptable Use Policy” for Internet use in your school?

  • Computer Virus Protection - advice regarding obtaining, installing and regular updating of anti-virus software including the availability of free anti-virus software from the Internet.
