Postgraduate Courses & the NCTE
The NCTE provides a range of ICT courses for first and second level teachers which, in general, focus on the use of ICT in teaching and learning. These courses are fully funded by the NCTE and are available through the network of Education Centres.
Many teachers who have taken NCTE courses have continued to Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree on one of the postgraduate programmes available through the Universities or Colleges of Education.
The following section details some of these ICT postgraduate programmes:

University of Limerick
Graduate Diploma/Masters in Digital Media Development in Education
This programme will equip participants with skills to capture and manipulate digital content and apply learning theories to creating interactive digital content. The NCTE’s Digital Media course, available through Education Centres, is required prior learning for this programme.
Dublin City University
M.Sc. e-Learning Education and Training Management
The School of Education Studies offers a two-year part-time taught Graduate Diploma/M.Sc. in e-Learning Education and Training Management. There are two pathways through the programme, one emphasising leadership, the other information and communication technologies. Participants will design and construct e-learning materials, examine contemporary theories and practices in education and develop their own teaching and learning through action research.
Trinity College Dublin
M. Sc. Technology and Learning
This course is run jointly by the School of Education and the School of Computer Science at Trinity College Dublin and aims to meet the needs of 21st century learners in the context of the emerging Knowledge Society, by providing its students with the opportunity to participate in a research led Master's programme exploring the integration of learning and technology. The programme is offered on a part-time basis over two academic years and the timetable is designed to facilitate participation by practising teachers and other professionals.
Mary Immaculate College, Limerick
Graduate Diploma / M.Ed. in Information and Communication Technologies in Primary Education
This programme will provide primary teachers with a holistic approach to the application of ICT in primary school classrooms, will enable teachers to integrate ICT into their curriculum and will emphasise that the computer is a tool or medium for use in learning.

NUI Maynooth
The Higher Diploma in Arts - Information and Communication Technology
This part-time course is offered, depending upon demand, in Maynooth and in Kilkenny. The course includes varied methodologies and focuses on the use of ICT to develop basic skills and to support of other curricular objectives

Froebel College of Education
Certificate in Educational Technology
This course will prepare teachers to use technology resources in mainstream classrooms for all children. It focuses on hardware and software applications as learning resources and will introduce teachers to applications suitable for a variety of special education needs in the mainstream setting.
