This year each class is taking turns to prepare a Teatime Treat for
parents.
We will bake in the morning and share the results with our families in
the afternoons.
Here is one of the recipes we will use:
Farmhouse Fruit Cake
INGREDIENTS:
6 oz soft tub margarine
4 oz caster sugar
4 oz sultanas
4 oz seedless raisins
4 oz. glace cherries, chopped
12 oz self-raising flour
Pinch of salt
I heaped teaspoon mixed spice
3 tablespoons milk
3 eggs
Grease an 8 in/ 20cm round cake tin and line with buttered greaseproof
paper.
Mix the margarine and all the dry ingredients in a bowl, then
add the milk and eggs and beat with a wooden spoon until well mixed, for
2-3 minutes.
Turn into the prepared tin and level the top.
Bake in the centre of the oven pre-heated to 3500F,1800 C, (mark 4) for
11/2 hours.
When a skewer comes away clean the cake is cooked. Leave in
the tin for 15 minutes. Turn out and cool on a rack.
