Using Animated GIFsAn animated GIF is an on-screen picture which uses a series of overlapping graphics to create perceived movement. Chances are the first movement you saw on a web page was an "animated GIF" (pronounced gif, as in gift). This animation was probably a simple graphic that animated like a cartoon, such as this one:
