Child Safety and Web Publishing Policy - Resources

The following rules for online safety should be followed by all children using the Internet:

  1. I will not give out personal information such as my address, telephone number, parents' work address/telephone number, or the name and location of my school without my teacher's permission.
  2. If I see any information that makes me feel uncomfortable, I will turn off the monitor and tell my teacher right away.
  3. I know that people I "meet" online are not always who they say they are. I will never agree to get together with someone I "meet" online without first checking with my teacher and parents.
  4. I will never send a person my picture or anything else without first checking with my teacher.
  5. I will not answer any messages that are mean or in any way make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I get a message like that, and if I do, I will tell my teachers right away so that they can deal with it.
  6. I will never use bad language or send mean messages online myself. I will make sure that my teacher sees my messages before I send them.
