Using Dreamweaver
Using Dreamweaver
Dreamweaver was first launched at the end of 1997 at a time where most other
web authoring applications were trying to be either HTML editors or Desktop
Publishing packages. Dreamweaver was probably the first to successfully combine
both of these elements, and at the time was remembered for the catch phrase
"I won't touch your code". This refers to the habit of many other
editors to put their own arrangement on things, code included, which resulted
in a significant backlash from web authors having their code trashed by various
web authoring applications.
Dreamweaver is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web authoring tool
which allows simultaneous access to the HTML code behind the scenes. In winning
the praise of web designers, Dreamweaver set the standard for web authoring
applications and remains probably the best all-round authoring tool available
for both Windows and Mac platforms. The biggest drawback for teachers will
probably be its price - a hefty £300.
