Using Microsoft Front Page Express

Using Microsoft Front Page Express - Basics

Front Page Express Toolbars

The two toolbars contain buttons corresponding to the most frequently used commands. You can also access all of these commands from menus.

Standard Toolbar

Use these items to create, open, and save Web pages; print and print preview your page; Undo and Redo; insert automated features, tables and images; and create links.

Format Toolbar

Use these items to apply paragraph formatting; specify fonts, font sizes, and font styles; apply text colour, and control text alignment.

You can hide or display these toolbars by choosing their respective menu items from the View menu.

Creating a New Page

From the File menu, choose New and then choose Normal Page.

To edit an existing page choose Open, and Browse to the local file on your computer.

Specifying the Title of the Page

On the Menu bar, select File, then Page Properties.

The Page Properties box opens. Select the General tab.

Title: Insert the page title. Remember the title is not the file name of your page, which is in the above instance index.htm

Note: If you do not enter a title, Front Page will prompt you to do so when you are saving your page.

Click OK to finish.

Saving your Page for the first time.

It is a good idea to save your web page before you start. As you proceed use the Save command button on the Standard Toolbar. Any images you have inserted will be saved also.

On the File menu select Save As..

Enter the file name and click Save.

Previewing your pages

Launch your browser. Open your saved page. As you create and save your document you can switch between the editor and the browser to see the revised version by clicking on the Refresh / Reload button on the browser.
