Using Microsoft Front Page Express

Using Microsoft Front Page Express - Working with Text

Editing text works the same as in most word-processing applications. You can type the text and apply the formatting later.

Selecting a Font

Highlight the text, and then choose a font style from the drop down menu on the Format Toolbar.

Selecting a Font Size

Highlight the text; then choose a font size by clicking on the relevant button on the Format Toolbar.

Paragraph formatting

To apply paragraph formatting, highlight the text and then select Normal or a heading style (Heading 1, Heading 2, etc.) from the drop down menu on the Format Toolbar.

Inserting a new paragraph

Press the Return (Enter) key. The cursor moves to the beginning of a new paragraph.

Inserting a forced line-break

On the Menu bar select Insert then Break…

The Break Properties box opens.

Choose Normal Line break and click OK.

Aligning Text

Highlight the heading or text and select the alignment button from the Format Toolbar to specify whether to align the selected paragraph to the left, right, or centre of the page.

Inserting a Horizontal Line

Click the location where you wish the line to appear. On the Menu bar select Insert then Horizontal Line.

Double click on the inserted line, and use the Horizontal Line Properties box which opens to specify the height, width and alignment of the line.

Character Formatting

You can apply (or remove) character formats to one or more characters, to text within a paragraph, or to text spanning parts of multiple paragraphs. Highlight the text and select the appropriate character format button on the Format Toolbar.
