Using Netscape Composer

Using Netscape Composer - Working with Graphics

Inserting an image

It is a good idea, where possible, to have your images saved in the Web site folder before inserting them into your document.

Place the cursor where you want the image to appear in your document. Click the Image button on the Composition Toolbar.

The Image Properties box opens:

Enter the graphic file name into the Image Location text box, or click Choose File to select an image file from your Web site folder.

In the Text alignment and wrapping around images section, click an Alignment button to indicate the position of the selected image. You can also specify whether to have the image right-align or left-align to the page. To see alignment changes you have made, view your page in the browser.

Note: Because of inconsistencies in how certain browsers interpret Text and Image alignment, it is often better to have your images "stand alone".

If you do not require a border around the image, set Solid border in the Space around imagesection to 0.

To specify alternative text for your image, click on Alt. Text/LowRes…

Enter your text and click OK

In the Image Properties box, click Apply and then Close to finish.

File Conversion

If you use an image format other than GIF or JPEG, Netscape Composer will convert the image file to a JPEG.

Aligning Images

Select the image by clicking on it. Choose to left, centre or right align the image by clicking on the alignment button on the Formatting Toolbar.

Resizing the image

Once inserted, the image can be resized it by selecting it and then dragging the handles that appear at each corner until the image is at the desired size.

Note: In general, resizing in an Image Editor before you import it gives better results.
