Using Netscape Composer - Working with Tables

Inserting a Table

Place the cursor where you wish the table to appear in your document. Click the Insert Table button on the Formatting Toolbar.

The New Table Properties box opens.

  • Number of rows: enter the number of rows in the table.

  • Number of columns: enter the number of columns in the table.

  • Table Alignment: click Left, Center or Right to specify the alignment for the table.

  • Border line width: enter a number for the size, in pixels, of the border lines around cells. Type 0 (zero) to make the border invisible.

  • Cell spacing: enter a number for the space, in pixels, between cells.

  • Cell padding: enter a number for the padding, in pixels, within each cell.

  • Table width: enter a number for the width of the table, and then select pixels or % of window.

  • Use Colour: Select to use a colour as the table's background, and then select the colour required. (You can specify colours for individual cells later.) By default, the background colour of the document is used.

Click Apply and then Close to finish.

Adding Rows, Columns, and Cells

To add a row, column, or cell just click in the table where you want the addition to appear. From the Insert menu, choose Table and then choose Row, Column or Cell.

To delete a row, column, or cell just click in the row, column, or cell you want to delete. From the Edit menu, choose Delete Table and then choose Row, Column, or Cell.

Setting or Altering Table properties

Click in the table and choose Table Properties from the Format menu.

The Table Properties box opens. Select the Table tab:

Change the settings as required, and click Apply.

You can also view the properties for the selected Row or Cell by selecting the appropriate tab from the Table Properties dialog box. (For example, you may wish to give each cell an individual colour.) Change these settings as required, and click Apply. Click Close to finish.
