Make the image background transparent

The following images are identical except for one feature. One has its background colour designated as transparent. Thus, this graphic will integrate well onto any web page no matter what colour.

Page background is yellow, text background is white

Page background is yellow, text background is white, but designated transparent.

Step 1 Set the background colour

Use the "dropper" tool to right-click on the colour you wish to designate transparent.

the "dropper" tool

In the above graphic, you would right-click on the white area behind the text to designate white as the background colour.

Step 2 Set transparency

Click Colours_Set Palette Transparency in the toolbar to bring up the following dialog box.

Choosing the highlighted option will set the transparency to white. This now means that anything white (which we earlier set as the background colour) in your graphic will seem invisible when placed on a web page, and thus "blend" into the web page's background.
