Chat Rooms:

Chat is one of the most exciting aspects of the Internet. It involves a number of people meeting in a Chat Room and typing messages on-screen to each other. It brings people who are miles apart onto the same screen and allows real interactivity with immediate effect. In the school setting, this can allow pupils to gain immediate responses to communications, and is very suited to ideas like Curriculum quizzes, interviewing someone, and informal meetings.

Warning: Chat facilities on your school site should not be undertaken or facilitated in the absence of direct supervision of the teacher. Please refer to your A.U.P. (Acceptable Use Policy) for further details.

Tip: It may sound obvious, but one conversation at a time is most effective in a chat environment. At times when there are too many people (too many being 5 or more), some parties are just answering to a previous comment at the same time as someone else is starting a new conversation. It can get rather confusing! Restraint and good netiquette are advised for the uninitiated.
